Engineering Yarrowia lipolytica to produce advanced biofuels: Current status and perspectives

چکیده
Energy security and global climate change have necessitated the development of renewable energy with net-zero emissions. As alternatives to traditional fuels used in heavy-duty vehicles, advanced biofuels derived from fatty acids terpenes similar properties current petroleum-based fuels, which makes them compatible existing storage transportation infrastructures. The fast metabolic engineering synthetic biology has shown that microorganisms can be engineered convert feedstocks into these biofuels. oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica is rapidly emerging as a valuable chassis for sustainable production terpenes. Here, we provide summary strategies developed recent years Y. synthesize Finally, efficient biotechnological perspectives future research are also discussed.

Engineering Yarrowia lipolytica to produce biodiesel from raw starch
BACKGROUND In the last year, the worldwide concern about the abuse of fossil fuels and the seeking for alternatives sources to produce energy have found microbial oils has potential candidates for diesel substitutes. Yarrowia lipolytica has emerged as a paradigm organism for the production of bio-lipids in white biotechnology. It accumulates high amounts of lipids from glucose as sole carbon so...
متن کاملEngineering Yarrowia lipolytica to Produce Glycoproteins Homogeneously Modified with the Universal Man3GlcNAc2 N-Glycan Core
Yarrowia lipolytica is a dimorphic yeast that efficiently secretes various heterologous proteins and is classified as "generally recognized as safe." Therefore, it is an attractive protein production host. However, yeasts modify glycoproteins with non-human high mannose-type N-glycans. These structures reduce the protein half-life in vivo and can be immunogenic in man. Here, we describe how we ...
متن کاملEngineering Yarrowia lipolytica for Campesterol Overproduction
Campesterol is an important precursor for many sterol drugs, e.g. progesterone and hydrocortisone. In order to produce campesterol in Yarrowia lipolytica, C-22 desaturase encoding gene ERG5 was disrupted and the heterologous 7-dehydrocholesterol reductase (DHCR7) encoding gene was constitutively expressed. The codon-optimized DHCR7 from Rallus norvegicus, Oryza saliva and Xenapus laevis were ex...
متن کاملEngineering Yarrowia lipolytica to enhance lipid production from lignocellulosic materials
Background Yarrowia lipolytica is a common biotechnological chassis for the production of lipids, which are the preferred feedstock for the production of fuels and chemicals. To reduce the cost of microbial lipid production, inexpensive carbon sources must be used, such as lignocellulosic hydrolysates. Unfortunately, lignocellulosic materials often contain toxic compounds and a large amount of ...
